Wow! What a great start we have had in Year 3! The children have come back to school full of energy and enthusiasm ready to learn!
Our first topic of the Autumn term is ‘Who first lived in Britain?’ We will be learning about the Stone Age, cave paintings, extinct animals and even be making our own weapons to go hunting!
Our second topic will be ‘What Make the Earth Angry?’ During this half term we will cover natural disasters including earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados.
In the Spring term our first learning challenge is ‘ How were the Pyramids built?’ We will be going back to ancient Egypt to the times of mummies, pharaohs and ancient Egyptian culture.
We will then study the topic of ‘How did the blossom become an apple?’ During this topic we will be exploring the life cycle of plants and the role of bees in pollination.
During the Summer term our first topic will be finding out ‘Who were the Ancient Greeks?’ We will explore Greek myths and legends as well as the origins of the Olympics.
Our final topic in Year 3 will be ‘Why do so many people from the UK choose to go to the Mediterranean for their holiday?’ During this geography based learning challenge we will compare similarities and differences between life in the UK and the Mediterranean and the advantages and disadvantages.
We are very much looking forward to all of the new learning!
