Hello and welcome to Year 1/2 with Mrs Cairns, Miss Allinson, Mrs Blades, Mrs Terzza and Mr Stewart. We hope you have all had a relaxing summer and are ready for an exciting year of fun and learning.
Our aim is to provide a happy, inviting and supportive classroom environment to enable the children to develop their social and emotional skills, in addition to supporting the children to achieve academically; to best of their ability.
Our learning challenge for the first autumn half term is, ‘Why was the Great Fire of London so great?’. We will be exploring the United Kingdom and the capital city of London. Our topic will allow us to have an insight into what life was like during the 17th Century compared to life now. Our learning challenge for the second autumn half term is, ‘Where would you prefer to live, England or Africa?’. This topic allows us to discover more about the world around us; looking at the seven continents of the world but focussing on Africa. As part of our topic, we will look at the animals that live in Africa, animal offspring, growing up and survival.
Please keep checking our Class Dojo page for regular updates and photographs.
